Two men arrested for kidnapping and raping minor in Nalasopara
Kherwadi police on Saturday arrested two men for allegedly kidnapping and raping a minor girl in Nalasopara on July 9.
The accused, Deepak Mishra (27), took the minor to a friend’s place in Andheri and confined her there for four days. He later invited his friend, Suraj Daultani (28), who also raped the girl.
On July 9, the minor and her elder sister went to Virar to watch ‘Sultan’. The elder sister’s boyfriend and Mishra were supposed to watch the movie with them. But Mishra arrived late and the others went for the movie without him.
Later, he messaged the victim and invited her to come to Nalasopara railway station so the two could go shopping together. She told her sister that she will be back in a few hours and left for the station. After she met Mishra, he took her to a lodge in the vicinity and raped her. Then, he took her to his friend’s place in Andheri and called Daultani.
After the victim failed to come home, the elder sister approached the Nirmal Nagar police and filed a missing persons complaint. But even after four days, she failed to hear back from the police. Eventually, the minor returned home.
A week later, when she narrated the incident, the victim’s family approached Additional Commissioner of police (west) Chhering Dorje, who instructed Kherwadi police to register an FIR.
The duo were arrested and booked under sections 34 (common intention), 323 (hurt), 363 (kidnap), 366 (A) (induces any minor girl to go from any place or to do any act with intent that such girl may be forced or seduced to illicit intercourse with another person), 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural offences), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and under the POCSO Act.
They have been remanded to police custody till July 28.
