WR’s new DISHA app helps locate ticket counters, toilets, subways, auto-stands & more
In a bid to ease suburban train travel, Western Railway on Monday launched the ‘DISHA’ mobile app, which allows passengers to locate amenities like automated ticket vending machines (ATVM), toilets, escalators among others using their smartphone.
WR is one of the busiest suburban networks in the world, ferrying over 35 lakh commuters daily. The app is aimed at making train travel, especially at busy stations like Dadar, Mumbai Central, Bandra, Andheri, Malad, Virar etc, hassle free and comfortable.
It does so by providing useful information about amenities like ticketing, food, toilets, medical help along with listing other available facilities available at the station.
In addition, it contains links for PNR enquiry, online ticketing, helpline numbers and facility to share feedback or complaints.
Following the launch, Mukul Jain, divisional railway manager, WR (Mumbai Division) said, “This is a resourceful mobile app, which will give passengers exact information and location of the platforms and also direct them to restaurants, ATMs, exit points or escalators. All this, at the click of a button on your smartphone.”
