Hyderabad minors burn 3 puppies alive, post video on Facebook
Two weeks after the video of a medical student throwing a dog from the roof of a building went viral, another video featuring five minors burning 3 puppies has surfaced online.
In the earlier incident, the medical student from Chennai had thrown the dog from the roof of a building ‘for fun’. After the video went viral, he threatened his friends to not reveal his identity. However, an animal lover identified him and authorities were informed. Fortunately, the dog survived the fall.
In the recent video, five minors can be seen burning the puppies in a bonfire of wood and garbage. The video, believed to be shot last Saturday, shows the minors forcing the puppies into the flames as they try to escape.
After the video surfaced online, Shreya Paropakari, representing People for Animals, filed a complaint against the unidentified minors on Tuesday.
Following which, Musheerabad police registered a case under Indian Penal Code section 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle, etc, of any value or any animal of the value of fifty rupees) along with sections 11(1)(A) and 11(1) (L) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Hyderabad police have reportedly identified the minors as residents of Pathan Basti colony in Musheerabad. According to sources, the incident was recorded at the Vazir graveyard near Ek Minar mosque.
If proven guilty, the youths could face up to five years of jail time. Meanwhile, police are trying to get the videos off the internet.
