Man detained for attempting to ‘strangle’ Kanhaiya on Mumbai-Pune Jet Airways flight
President of Jawaharlal Nehru University’s student’s union Kanhaiya Kumar was allegedly strangled on a Jet Airways flight to Pune by a co-passenger this morning.
According to the CISF, the co-flier accused of strangulating Kanhaiya was identified as Manas Deka, and was detained by the Mumbai Police.
It is learnt that Deka had a window seat and while taking the seat he bumped into Kanhaiya. “They pushed each other, but there was nothing like a fight. We e can ascertain anything only after we record statements of flight crew and the two involved in the incident,” a police official from Sahar police said.
Also, Minister of State for Home Ram Shinde asserted there was no attack on Kanhaiya. “The police report says that fighting between two passengers led to scuffle. Kanhaiya’s allegations are baseless,” he claimed.
Kanhaiya, meanwhile, accused the airline for offloading him along with his alleged attacker.
