Spicejet sacks pilot who locked air hostess in the cockpit with him
On Thursday, SpiceJet dismissed the pilot who had forced an air hostess to sit with him in the cockpit of a Boeing 737 airplane.
The incident took place on February 28 aboard a SpiceJet flight from Kolkata to Bangkok where the pilot asked his co-pilot to leave the cockpit and locked himself in with the chief air hostess. Subsequently, he made her sit on his seat.
Owing to the pilot’s unethical behaviour, the air hostess reported the matter to authorities and complained about the pilot’s use of foul language.
The airline then launched a probe in the matter which resulted in dismissal of the said pilot under the rules laid down in The Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place Act of 2013.
