Thane Traffic Police on Friday enlisted the help of a ‘headless man’ for its campaign on spreading awareness about road safety and following traffic rules.

The officials were accompanied by the headless man – dressed in a black suit, white shirt, and red tie – during the awareness drive about wearing a helmet at the busy Teen Haath Naka in Thane earlier today.

The headless man’s presence was met with a lot of excitement, which made it easier for officials to educate riders about the advantages of wearing a helmet while riding.

“People were surprised to see a headless man walking on the road. Once he had their attention, it was very easy to reach out to them and talk about road safety. The initiative was successful as we managed to interact with a lot of motorists,” an official told Local Press Co.

As a part of the drive officials also carried signboards with messages urging motorists to not ride triple seat, talk on the mobile phone while driving etc.

The drive, a part of the traffic police’s Traffic Awareness Program (TAP), was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Amit Kale.
