Buy a Rs 10,000 ticket to hop on to the last DC local on Harbour line
As the Harbour line finally bids goodbye to its 1,500-volt Direct Current (DC) system, and it converting to 25,000-volt Alternating Current (AC) system, you can witness the end of an era by buying a Rs 10,000 ticket – the amount with which the DC trains were started in 1925.
The sale of tickets is being handled by JJ School of Arts. The amount will also cover the fare of the midnight journey.
That’s not all, the joyriders will also be allowed to sit in the comfort of the ticket counter (called Star Chamber) at CST station and watch a live screening of the conversion from 12:30 to 3 AM. Moreover, they will even be allowed to flag off the first train to run on the new system the next day at 6 am.
As the last DC local will depart from Kurla at 11.30 pm and reach CST at 12.15 am, the railway authorities have called for music bands to play music at Kurla, Chunabhatti, GTB Nagar, Wadala, Sewri, Cotton Green, Reay Road, Dockyard, Sandhurst, Masjid and CST stations as the takes place.
Also, in wake of Maharashtra’s drought, Railway authorities have decided to donate the major part of the proceeds towards drought relief.
