Shahid Kapoor
Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor was served a notice by the city’s civic body for failing to prevent the breeding of dengue causing mosquitoes inside his luxurious Juhu apartment on Friday.
The BMC made a visit to Praneta apartments at Juhu Tara road after actress Vidya Balan, who stays in the same building as Shahid, was diagnosed with dengue. The actress has since then been kept under observation at her residence.
The BMC’s insecticide department, during a surveillance drive, reportedly found a breeding site for aedes aegypti mosquitos inside Shahid’s swimming pool, which had not been used for a while.
Following which, the actor, who stays two floors below the actress, was served a notice under section 382 of the BMC Act. The notice can attract a fine of upto Rs 10,000.
Another resident of the building, who resides on the third floor, was also served a notice for the same violation along with Shahid.
Needless to say Shahid, who welcomed a baby daughter with wife Meera on August 27, is concerned about the development. “Shahid is concerned about the findings of BMC in his building and the locality. Especially so with the presence of a newborn baby in the house,” Shahid’s spokesperson said.
According to one report, over 1,500 patients were admitted with suspected dengue at civic hospitals across the city till September 11.
