Police arrested 3 men and seized a large cache of arms from their vehicle on the Agra-Mumbai highway early on Friday.
The vehicle’s driver flashed his gun at a pump attendant while filling diesel during the wee hours of Thursday, following which cops were alerted. They put up roadblocks and managed to stop the jeep a few hours later near Chandwad Toll Plaza.
Upon searching the vehicle, cops found at least 25 rifles, 19 revolvers, and more than 4,100 live cartridges in a hidden compartment.
The arms are believed to have been smuggled from a factory in UP. The accused were identified as Salman Khan, Badari Juman Badshah, and Nagesh Bansode. Further probe is underway.
