In a surprise development, Dadar railway police managed to recover over 200 stolen mobile phones while searching the house of a mobile thief in Nalasopara.

On July 20, Mohiddur Ahmed Ansari filed a complaint with Dadar railway police after he lost his cell phone. While investigating the case, cops zeroed in on the suspect and arrested Jeet Ghosh in connection with the crime.

According to reports, the Nalasopara-resident would nick commuter’s phones and sell them in the ‘chor bazaar’ in Nagpada. To avoid suspicion, he would only sell some phones and keep the rest at home.

After apprehending him, Dadar police searched his house in a bid to recover handsets that Ghosh had not yet gotten rid off. During the search, officials were shocked to find 217 mobile handsets, worth over Rs 11.44 lakh, from the house.

The 40-year-old, who admitted to the theft, was later produced in court which sent him to police custody till July 24.

Cops are now probing if Ghosh had any accomplices.
