Tree falls on 4 parked cars near police hospital in Thane
At least four parked cars were damaged after a tree located in front of Thane Police Hospital fell on them on Wednesday morning.
According to officials, the tree fell on the vehicles earlier today while they were parked near Urjit Hotel at Court Naka in Thane West. Since the cars were empty and there was less traffic on the road, no casualties were reported.
However, all four cars – two Maruti Vans, a Maruti Swift and a Mahindra Scorpio – were badly damaged after getting crushed under the weight of the branches.
After authorities were notified, a team from Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC), Police officials and Fire Brigade reached the spot with one fire engine.
As of publishing this report, the branches have been sawed off and the dismantled remains cleared from the road.
TMC officials, however, are yet to ascertain what caused the tree to get uprooted and fall.
