On Monday morning, two coaches of a CST-bound local train got derailed after leaving Kalyan station, affecting services on Central line.
The coaches of the 9:43 Kalyan-CST local got derailed after the train left Platform 1 of Kalyan station today morning. Since the train had barely gathered speed when the derailment occurred, no casualties were reported.
Both up and down slow trains plying between Thakurli and Kalyan were affected because of the derailment. However, Central Railway was quick to respond, diverting slow trains on the fast line.
Passengers stranded on the Kalyan-CST were seen getting down and travelling towards the station to catch the subsequent locals from Kalyan.
Railway workers are already on the spot, working on bringing the coaches back on track. According to initial estimates, it might take between thirty minutes to one hour for the coach to be put back on track.
Central line services had also come to a halt yesterday after heavy rains submerged major platforms like Thane under water. A landslide near Parsik tunnel, which left the track covered in mud, further affected trains running to and from Diva station.
Update: The affected coaches were re-railed around 12:20 pm.
