Godowns in Bhiwandi to observe different holidays to solve traffic problem
In a bid to solve the problem of traffic jams in powerloom town of Bhiwandi, the Thane district administration has asked the godown owners to observe different holidays.
“As a workable solution to the traffic woes it has been decided to regulate the working of the godowns which are frequented by the goods vehicles every day,” Bhiwandi Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Santosh Thithe said today.
The issue was discussed at a meeting convened by the District Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde in which District Collector Mahendra Kalyankar and other senior officials were present.
The godowns in the region would observe different holidays. This was the only workable solution to the traffic jams, which has been giving rise to several problems these days, Thite was quoted as saying in an official release.
As per the orders issued, the holidays will be observed by the godowns on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, said the release.
It further said all godowns in Purna and Rahanal will remain closed on Tuesday, those in Kasheli, Kopar, Kalher will remain closed on Wednesday and those in Dapode and Val will remain closed on Friday.
The district administration had already held meetings in this regard with the traffic department and the godown associations and they have given their consent to the regulated holidays, the SDO added.
