‘Be an angel, give it a home’, says Sunny Leone
Sunny Leone has joined hands with PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) to promote adoption of street animals.
The move comes in the wake of a recent ban by the Central Government on import of foreign pedigree dogs for commercial purposes like breeding. With this campaign, Sunny has urged her fans to adopt stray animals and give them a shelter instead of buying them.
The tagline of the Sunny-led PETA campaign reads, ‘Be an Angel for Animals! Adopt a Dog From the Street or a Shelter’.
During the recent press conference for the launch of the campaign, Sunny was quoted saying, “I believe in not buying – and adopting … because there are so many dogs out there (who) need a home, (who) were left on the streets. If you can rescue an animal, then that’s one of the greatest gifts you can give somebody.”
The actress and PETA also promote sterilisation of companion animals as it prevents thousands of stray animals from being born every year, most of whom are left to suffer on the streets.
