One railway staffer dead, 3 injured in landslide near Khandala on Pune-Mumbai railway track
One railway employee was crushed to death and three others were injured following a landslide in a tunnel over Central Railway’s Pune-Mumbai railway route on Monday afternoon.
The incident took place at the tunnel at Monkey Hill near Khandala station on Monday afternoon while the railway staff was carrying out maintenance work on the railway tracks.
A landslide caused a massive rock to fall on the staffers, crushing one lineman to death and injuring three of his colleagues.
The injured staffers were subsequently rushed to the hospital. At least two of the three injured are reportedly critical.
The identities of the deceased and injured are not yet known.
All trains on the Central Railway’s Pune-Mumbai route were delayed by around 20-25 minutes following the incident. The services are running on time now.
