From today, Harbour line trains are running on 25,000 volts AC traction

After the six-hour block was carried out late night for the DC to AC conversion, trains on Harbour and Trans-Harbour are now plying on AC traction.

The Down Harbour first local left CST for Panvel at 6.28 am. The first Andheri bound local departed CST on the new AC traction around 6.40 am.

According to officials, the new traction will provide more reliability and speed for trains.

As against 492 services today, 413 services will be run on Harbour line. Also, as against 210 services, 195 services will be run on Transharbour line.
