Ola cab driver booked for stalking, harassing female passenger

1. On Tuesday, a driver working with app-based taxi service Ola Cabs, was arrested by the Dindoshi police for allegedly stalking and harassing a 30-year-old woman passenger.
2. The victim, who works with a private company, lives alone in her Dindoshi flat. She had booked an Ola cab for returning home from work on May 4. On the way, the woman noticed that the cab driver, Pravin Tiwari, was staring at her from the rear-view mirror. A few minutes later he started hurling abuses and passing lewd comments.
3. The woman also informed the police that Tiwari started rash driving when she protested against his behaviour. When the cab stopped near her building, the woman made the payment and rushed inside the compound.
4. Tiwari, even followed her there. When he was confronted by the building’s watchman, he allegedly started enquiring about the woman. Later, the accused repeatedly called the woman and used abusive language, after which she filed a complaint against Tiwari in the Dindoshi police station.
5. After chasing him for five days, the cops finally managed to nab Tiwari and booked him under Section 354, 506 and 509. The accused was later released on bail.
