Shiv Sena MP’s car runs over deer outside Sanjay Gandhi National Park

A four-wheeler belonging to Shiv Sena MP Rajendra Gavit knocked down and killed a spotted deer outside the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) in Borivali last week.

According to officials, the incident took place on Wednesday evening near the main gate of the park. The deer was rushed to the veterinary hospital where it was declared dead.

Gavit, who represents the Palghar constituency in Lok Sabha, was not in the vehicle at the time of the mishap.

The vehicle in question has been seized. The driver, meanwhile, has been booked and arrested under relevant sections of the Wildlife Protection Act.
